Challenge and tutorial weekend at SK

This weekend Cookie at the Scrappin'Kids blog gave a wonderful tutorial about a mini-album which I finished around midnight last night (once I started I couldn't stop!!) even Jippie was asleep by then, LOL! Anyway, here it is:

Again I used the Lily bee papers from my Nook kit....
And then this morning I finshed my layout for Issa's challenge. The embellishments should be handmade and consisting of pp or cardstock and you had to include a memorabilia.

I used Manon's drawing about a plane crash, which turned out to be a bad dream. When she made this we were about to fly to America and no, she says she is not afraid of flying....
Used the "early bird" line from Cosmo Cricket. Painted and glimmermisted the cardstock, stitched almost everything, handcut the flowers and included Manon's boarding pass and a ticket from her favorite restaurant.

Today I had some spare time to scrap!! Patrick works in England during the week and that means the dining room table is mine! I scrapped some photos of Patrick's 46th birthday which I had lying around for 2 years now. When I saw the July sketch from WijDUS I knew that was exactly what I was looking for. Here's my take on the sketch:

and the details:

I used the May kit from My Scrapbook Nook which held papers from Lily bee (GORGEOUS!! don't know if I have shown this photo before, but here it is again).

Geweldig he?

Here's a photo of the July kit of My Scrapbook Nook, filled with BG Lemonade.

A fairy enchanting time!

Do you want to see Tanya's new sketch for Little Shop of Sketches then hop on over to her blog! Here's the layout I created. Used Webster's Pages "Magical Wishes" and loved it! At first I found it rather difficult to start; the pages are so very beautiful I didn't dare cutting them up! But once I started I rather liked it! LOL!

Photo is of Manon and me during our holiday in California last May.

"Jumping and Breaking Free!"

Dit is mijn layout geworden "jumping and breaking free":
En omdat MME een challenge heeft lopen om iets te maken met hun "breaking free" line heb ik deze layout daar ook geupload! Ik heb zelfs het strookje van het papier gebruikt waar de naam van de lijn op staat, dat je er normaliter af moet snijden. Ik vond dat de naam van de lijn "breaking free" prima bij deze foto's paste!
This lo is based on the July sketch from "scrap-club" and made with the "breaking free" line from MME. I even used the strip from the paper where it says "breaking free" because it fitted perfectly with these photos of Manon jumping in the pool!

Don't know why my photos are always so blurry....it can't be my camera as that's a Canon 400D so it must be me.....GRRRR!

Using my Prima stash (again)

I just love these Prima papers and find myself reaching for them time and again but as I don't find them very fitting for the boys' pics I always end up scrapping Manon's photos!

Can't remember the last time I participated in Paper Popsicles monthly sketch challenge so I thought I would give it a shot again.
This is their sketch:

And this is my take on it:

The journaling is hidden and is about Manon's happy and funny character and how she never tires of me taking pics of her... I LOVE her!

7Gypsies challenge

Via via I stumbled upon a 7Gypsies challenge on Scrapbook Express and because the price is awesome (a 7Gypsies binder) and I have lots of 7Gypsies stuff (but seldom use them) I decided to play!

I used: 7Gypsies papers, 7Gypsies gaffer tape, 7Gypsies rubons, 7Gypsies alphabet transparencies (B), 7Gypsies Gypsy ephemera card, 7Gypsies ATC stamp parenthesis, 7Gypsies circular flower stamp... so I think that's all as fas as 7Gypsies is concerned. Furthermore I used ribbon, prima flowers, bling, buttons and MM letter stickers. Sorry the quality of the photo isn't too good, I took the photo around 11 pm and it was getting dark...

The photo is of my mum and me in the winter of 1963......a long long time ago!

Made this layout for challenge #11 over at ScrapbookNederland. You had to lift a page from one of the scrapbook books you had in your cubboard..... I had totally forgotten that I had once bought Elsie's Recipe Box. Loved to look through it again and decided to lift her lo you see above... Hope you'll like my lo.

Layout and presents

WijDus is among my favorite challenge blogs for a couple of months now, but for some reason I've never been able to play along, until now! Their challenge for July is to create a layout with the subject "outside" and this is what I made:

Title: summertime is terrace time (zomer, tijd voor een terrasje)
Journaling reads: When we're on holiday we never make lunch or dinner ourselves, but we always eat out on these little terraces; delicious!! Lanzarote, 2006)

I challenged myself to use this one sheet of Prima paper. I bought it because I found it so very beautiful in itself...without any other papers or embellishements or whatever and that made it so difficult for me to use. In the end I decided not to use any other papers, but to machine stitch around the photo(mat) and on the photo and just use a lot of Prima embellishments (bling, flowers, stem, owl), a piece of ribbon, a stamp of a clock, a Maya Road journaling card, some Thickers and adhesive pearls, some dymo tape and two staples.... And I'm quite glad how it turned out, hope you think so too!

Today was the last day before the summer holidays (it's raining cats and dogs!!) and I still had to finish the "presents" for Mats' and Timothy's teachers. As they will be back in the same class next schoolyear - with the same teacher - it's just a way of saying "thank you and have nice holiday" and not a "farewell" as was the case with Manons teachers....

Kept it simple, nothing fancy.

Another sketch on Little Shop of Sketches' blog!!

It's time for a new sketch, it's time for sketch #41!!!

Thanks Tanya for this wonderful sketch!! I wanted to scrap a page with multiple photos and this sketch came just in time!! In December 2007, when Timothy's soccer team won for the 1st time, I had these photos printed straight away! I was so proud of him, I couldn't wait to sit down and scrap about it.....but life got in the way and these photos were still sitting on my desk...until today!

If you want to see what the other designers did with the sketch, or if you want to play along, hop on over to Little Shop's blog!!

Farewell school

Today Manon is having her farewell party at school, such a milestone! After 8 years she's leaving the "basisschool"! (I remember her first day as if it was only yesterday.... how time has flown!) She and her class have been rehearsing musicals and songs for weeks on end. And today is the BIG day!! This morning all the grandparents are invited to come and watch and this evening it's my turn, yeah!!! It's a shame Patrick won't be able to attend because of his trip to Prague, but last Friday he was allowed to see the rehearsals (as long as he promised not to tell me what it was all about!!).

And of course Manon has a little something to give to her teachers. She made a little gift bag for Maria with a dog made of soap in it, I made a card for Sanne who also gets soap, but this time a penguin and Jenya is going to get "wheelers" (wheels which you just click under the heels of your shoes, she saw them during a roller skating "disco" at school and just loved them and since Manon has 2 pairs...) and the card has yet to be made ...

And of course Mats' and Timothy's summer holidays are about to start too, so they have to empty their drawers......this is what Timothy brought home yesterday!!! I even found some invoices for the milk they drink during lunch break, dated March 2009!!!

Boys will be boys!!!!!

My first assignment at ScrappinKids!!

My very first assignment as a member of the DT at ScrappinKids was to do the "lift it" challenge. I had a look through the members' galleries to find a layout to lift. This was not an easy task, let me tell you!!!! There were so many wonderful creations in the galleries! In the end this one from Yannie caught my eye: and here's my layout based on Yannie's:

Finally got to use my "Snorkel" stash from Cosmo Cricket!! I hope you'll like it and that you'll play along with us over at ScrappinKids!!! I challenge you to create a layout based on Yannie's page too, upload it at the SK forum (if you're new there, you have to register first, but don't let that stop you, it's very easy!!) and at the end of the month I'll choose my favorite and the winner will get a little RAK from me!!!! So what are you waiting for??? Get scrapping!!!
